About
Located 20 miles from Wilmington, NC, this National Park Battlefield is the site of the first Patriot victory that turned rebellion to Revolution and ended British authority over North Carolina. It features a Visitors Center with a Gift Shop, exhibits including a new Gullah Geechee exhibit, artifacts, introductory video, walking trails, and picnic areas. Stroll past cannons and militia earthworks, walk on the reconstructed bridge and explore the boardwalk over the wide creek in this picturesque park. Boasting the beginning of the Gullah Geechee Trail containing the last remaining segment of the road leading south, this area was partial inspiration for the global phenomenon Outlander series. Experience the exciting Annual Anniversary Living History Weekend the last full weekend in February, Fall Living History Weekends, and Docent lead Candlelight Battlefield Tours in November.
